Week 9 reflection

This week we covered Word Processor and prepared spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel. I must say this has been quite a relaxing week as far as EDET is concerned because I am no stranger to the topics we looked at. However, I offered my support to classmates new to processor and excel, and kept an ear out for anything new that I could have learned. Surprising, for once I was on top of things and managed to complete all the necessary tasks before class was done.

Though the semester is almost over, I must say the challenges faced so far paid off as I now have a better understanding of this EDET course, and how I can incorporate technology in the classroom to aid teaching. I look forward to the following classes and am excited to take on another challenge.

How would I utilize Word Processor and Microsoft Excel in my classroom????
Microsoft would be the main software utilized in my classroom. I would prepare home work assignments using this software, tests, notes, and different class activities. I would use excel as an assessment tool where I create checklists and rubrics to see where the students are academically.

Week 7 reflection

Another exciting yet challenging week for me. This week we looked at the ASSURE model; a unique yet more difficult way of preparing a lesson plan............ As if the way I learned wasn't challenging enough for me!!!! This ASSURE model took a lot of practice and peer tutoring but I "think" I finally got the hang of it.
A - analyze learners
S - state objectives
S - select, modify, and design method, media and material
U - utilize method, media, and material
R - require learner participation (performance)
E - evaluate

We also had to get into groups and create a movie using Windows Live Movie Maker, this was the exciting part!!!! My group members and I created a movie for grade two students called "Animals and their Habitats." in this movie we included pictures of the animals and their habitats of course and even put a song to it. thanks to creative Kevon and my other group members, we were able to capture our classmates and lecturer's  attention as we presented our movie the following class.

After learning about Windows Live Movie Maker, I am even more eager to step in to the classroom. this is a software to help motivate students to learn, and participate in class and pay keen attention to the lesson.

Week 6 Reflection

This week we covered Podcasts; which can be defined as an amateur program that allows users to record audio via programs such as; Audacity, and can be saved as mp3 or mp4.

This week was a bit challenging for me because my laptop didn't allow me to download Audacity. I wasn't able to create one of my own. However, I was able to get a general idea of podcasts thanks to the classmates who were willing to work along with me. :)

Week 5 Reflection

This week we had to comment on 3 classmates blogs and add them as contributors along with the lecturer to our blogs. This was rather interesting as we had colleagues critique our blogs and it was an exciting way to learn from each other.

REFLECTION 5
EDET for me is becoming more and more interesting how ever challenging it may be . This week we covered many aspects that was totally new to me .We had to follow instructions that was sent via email to complete tasks . I'm learning slowly and its feels good . I hope to get better so as to improve my technological skills. Week 6 here i come.

Week Two Reflection

Week Two down!!!
This weeks classes were quite interesting and informative as we covered the nine (9) Multiple Intelligences from Howard Gardener, and the 4 different Theories of Learning. Last class was exciting as the students had to come up with their own definition of learning based on the 4 learning theories and present via PowerPoint Presentation to the class.

Week One Reflection

Q: What is technology?
A: Any tool or strategy used to make communication easier

Above are just 2 of the topics discussed during the first week of EDET. During this week we learnt about different methods of technology, and the 3 main learning styles; manipulative/kinesthetic, auditory, and visual.

My espectations from this EDET course

I expect to become more advanced in technology and the devices used, not only for my personal benefit, but to put the knowledge I've gained to good use in the classroom. Thus making learning easier and exciting.

Welcome to EDET (Educational Teachnology)

HELLO :D

EDET is a very interesting and exciting course for me. So far, I've learnt about technology and the devices, and different learning theories from different psychologists perspectives. Today we looked at a few PowerPoint presentations by classmates on The Concept of Learning where we had to create our own definition of learning.
